Condtarulations to Tim and Sarah on the birth of William James on December 20th. He weighed in at 6lbs and now weighs 6lb 8ozs and both mother and baby ar doing well. His two year old sister Emma enjoys helping out when she can. It was good to see all four of them in church on Christmas morning to celebrate not only the birth of William but also of Jesus. We wish them every blessing as they grow together as a family.

Reconnections

We deliver 250 newsletters around Rhydyfelin twice a year to people who have had previous connections with the church - perhaps we have offered them Jesus videos in the past, or their children/grandchildren have been to the weekly children/youth work, or to the Summer American mission. We have recently started revisiting these addresses to reconnect and check if there is anything we can do to help and/or encourage them at this time.

New Minister

In July we said farewell to our minister the Rev Joseph Tembo as he was moving to a new church in Derby. In September we welcomed the Rev Verity Phillips. She has been in the area for 2 years and lives in Nelson, but now she has taken oversight of the church at Rhydyfelin. She has been along to visit most of the regular meetings and wants to be as involved as she can be although she also has oversight of 6 other churches.

Baptism and membership
Posted on: 04/04/2011 @ 9:32am

On Sunday 3rd April in a shared service at Bethel, Hawthorn Heather was baptised and both her and her husband Jon were welcomed into the fellowship of the church. This was a wonderful day for both of them and the church. It was good for both Heather and Jon's families to meet together with the church family on this special occassion. This service was a shared service with Bethel as we celebrated Mothers' Day together and also in the baptism. The service was led jointly by the Rev Joseph Tembo and Pastor Andrew McLaughlin.
